Murphy&Nye and sailing: a historic relationship dating back to the last century, when in 1933 Jim Murphy and Harry Nye Jr founded their sails manufacturing company in Chicago, specializing in pleasure boats sails. In the '60s Murphy&Nye was one of the most important sailing companies in the United States and in 1975 it opened the European branch office in Italy. It was such a great success, that in 1980 M&N Europe acquired the brand from the American parent company. At the same time, the company decided to optimise its know-how in regatta sails manufacturing to produce clothing for yacht crews.
